Pewter and enamel cufflinks created by time served craftsmen. The Union Jack was originally conceived in 1606 when King James IV of Scotland ascended to the English throne. It was decided that the St George's Cross and St Andrew's Cross would continue to be flown on land but a new flag integrating the two would be used at sea by the admiralty. The St Patrick's Cross was later added to create the British Union flag familiar to all today.
